At the end of November, Melksham faced some of the most severe flooding in our history. Homes, businesses, and lives were impacted, but in the face of adversity, our community showed its true strength and resilience. I have been humbled and inspired by the incredible efforts of local authorities, support organisations, and volunteers who came together to respond to this emergency.
Wiltshire Council’s emergency teams worked tirelessly, coordinating rescue operations, providing temporary shelters for those displaced, and supporting cleanup efforts. Their swift action helped to mitigate further harm and provided much-needed relief to affected residents. Local charities and volunteer groups were equally remarkable, delivering essential supplies, including food, clothing, and cleaning materials, and offering a helping hand to those in need. Businesses across Melksham stepped up to support the community, opening their doors and contributing resources to assist recovery efforts.
A special thank you to the emergency services, council staff, and countless volunteers who gave their time, expertise, and compassion to support their neighbours. You exemplify the very best of what makes our town so special.
To everyone affected, please know that we stand with you. Together, we will recover, rebuild, and ensure Melksham emerges stronger than ever.
