Last year I requested that the Kenilworth estate should be considered as a potential site for the introduction of a new 20mph limit.
I made that request following numerous complaints and comments from local residents about speeding in the area and local peoples real concerns about the high risk of a serious injury resulting from vehicles travelling too fast on the estate roads.
I'm delighted to confirm that the next stage of the road resurfacing for the Kenilworth Estate is due to start in late February.
Waverley Gardens and Woodstock Gardens will be closed to traffic during the day on the 23rd, 24th and 25th to allow the work to take place.
Residents in Primrose Drive and Heather Avenue will be pleased to see that the grass on the green has finally been cut, and the holes in the ground created a month ago by the grass cutting teams have finally been filled in but local councillor Jon Hubbard says it's not right that this only happens after he and local residents intervene.
"This work should just be being done," said the local councillor, "and I have spoken to officers and sought assurances that in future this green space will be cut on a regular two-weekly cycle.
Following an intervention from Melksham South Wiltshire Councillor Jon Hubbard, the paddling pool in Melksham's King George V playing fields is finally set to be repaired, after being being closed by the council over a year ago.
Local councillor Jon Hubbard intervened after it was reported to the Town Council they understood there were no plans by Wiltshire Council to undertake the necessary work to reopen the facility.
Eagle eyed motorists will have spotted the new Community Speed Watch Team out and about on Snowberry Lane in recent weeks.
The team was set up by local councillor Jon Hubbard following speed checks that showed the average speed by motorists in the 30mph limit area was almost 40mph.
Local councillor Jon Hubbard has called for a rethink over new rules governing the introduction of 20mph limits in our residential streets.
The new rules introduced by the Conservative administration in County Hall mean that only those streets where the average speed is below 24mph will be able to be considered for a 20mph limit.
Many local residents have contacted me with concerns about parked vehicles on Snowberry Lane and asked me to take action to try and limit the parking.
As you may know I have been trying to get a parking restriction on the junction with Lavender Close for some months.
