Potentially yet more housing for Melksham as result of 5 year land supply failure

Melksham is facing yet more extra housing being built in the town following yet another unexpected planning application for 50 new homes to be built off Western Way behind Townsend Farm.

The application, which has already been submitted to Wiltshire Council, reference 20/07334/OUT, calls for 50 new homes to be built. There is no indication of any new facilities in the application to help meet the shortfall in the town.

The site has seen a number of planning applications in the past, all of which have been rejected.

This latest speculative application appears again to be looking to cram more housing into the area without help meet the shortfall in facilities in the town.

Melksham South councillor Jon Hubbard commented, "I will be opposing this application. It makes no efforts to demonstrate how it will contribute towards the needs of our community, the applicant has made no effort to speak to the local community about their plans."
