Melksham Blue Pool has been temporarily closed as a result of flooding from the heavy rain over the past couple of days.
At approximately 6.30pm on Thursday evening the building lost all electricity supply as a result of the flooding and this resulted in the facility being closed.
As there is no power the computer systems which would enable staff to notify customers of the closure are all unavailable and staff are having to turn customers away at the door.
Local councillor Jon Hubbard commented, "It's a shame that we now see the Blue Pool closed due to lack of maintenance, just as we saw with Christie Miller. I hope and trust that the facility will be reopened quickly and I have today written to the Cabinet member at Wiltshire Council asking for his assurance that we will not see the long-term or permanent closure of the facility.
"Melksham has been repeatedly let down by Wiltshire Council when it comes to leisure facilities and this latest closure is just one more massive dissapointment and let down by the council.
"We need to see the Blue Pool opened again as quickly as possible and the council hold good on their assurances that it will remain open until the new Campus facility fully opens."
UPDATE - 3.20pm 28/08/2020
I have received an update from the council saying that the facility should reopen tomorrow morning.
In addtion I have had a positive response from the council's cabinet member responsible for leisure facilities who has said, "Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to reopen the Blue Pool as soon as possible. As soon as the team have a confimed reopening time we will let everyone know. I can also assure you that there is no change to the previous assurances that I have given you regarding the future."
